Amazing Arts with Ms. Betsy - Grades Pre-K, K, 1, 2 - Students will respond to literary texts creatively through the visual arts.
Animation with BRIC Arts Media - Grades 2, 3, 4, 5 - Exploration of various types of animation. Students will create a storyboard and use claymation, stop-motion, pixilation and cut-out animation to bring their narrative to life.
Arts, Crafts, and Snacks! with Ms. Rusin - Grades 1, 2, 3 - Students will complete a themed art project each week while enjoying healthy snacks in a fun and collaborative atmosphere.
Art with BRIC Arts Media - Grades Pre-K, K, 1 - Students will gain hands on experience with techniques in drawing, painting and sculpture with a focus on enchanted creatures, folklore and fairy tales.
Art Explorers with Mr. Nugent - Grades 2, 3, 4, 5 - This class provides students with an introduction to major figures and movements in the history of art. The class will then create their own artwork using techniques developed or exemplified by these great artists.
Basketball with Mr. Kareem and Mr. Jonathan - Grades 3, 4, 5 - Students will learn rules and techniques of basketball through drills and open play with a focus on teamwork.
Block Room - Grades Pre-K, K - Students will plan, explore and build structures such as bridges, colosseums, towers, etc. They will explore STEM and architectural concepts and work collaboratively and independently.
Capoeira with Capoeira Vida - Grades Pre-K, K, 1 - Come learn the Brazilian art of Capoeira! Equal parts dance, acrobatics, martial arts, and music and 100% awesome! The level 1 class will introduce students to Capoeira’s playfulness through animal-like movements set to the music of Brazilian percussion. Students learn basic phrases, numbers and songs in Portuguese as they build self-esteem, strength, and flexibility in a disciplined and safe class environment. This club is for: Everyone! Especially kids who love movement and music. Students will have the option of purchasing t-shirts and music that is used in class.
Center City with Ms. Nicole - Grades Pre-K, K, 1 - This class enables students to explore various classroom centers, promoting social-emotional development and working on fine and gross motor skills.
Ceramics with Created by Kids - Grades K, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 - This class will explore the various ways artists use clay to create both sculptural forms and functional items. Students will learn classic hand-building techniques like pinching, coiling, and slab construction that form the foundations of all hand-built pottery. The students will create a new project each week using and building on those techniques. In addition to building each project by hand, students are encouraged to personalize their work through a variety of glazing techniques. They will hone their artistic style by working on a wide variety of ceramics projects aimed at teaching them various pottery skills. They will take these projects home after they are fired in our kiln, giving them long-lasting mementos of their artistic pursuits.
Cheerios with Ms. V and Ms. Lindsey - Grades K, 1, 2 - Students will learn basic cheerleading and tumbling routines. They will have the opportunity to cheer at various school functions. Only for returning Cheerios.
Chess with Ms. McKenzie - Grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 - Students will engage in strategy, tactics and theory to help them learn the game of chess and increase analytical thinking skills.
Classic School Yard Games with Ms. Richard - Grades K, 1, 2 - Moving away from iPads and Pokemon, students will learn old school yard games that support social skills and a sense of community.
Cooking with Ms. Millie - Grades Pre-K, K, 1 - Using science and math, students will learn cooking and baking techniques. They will explore how liquids can turn into solids, how heat creates chemical changes, measurement, and nutrition.
Creative Movement with Dancewave - Grades Pre-K, K, 1 - Creative Movement develops young dancers' abilities to move by focusing on simple concepts, shapes, high/low levels in space, movement qualities, textures and moods. These classes teach a basic understanding of rhythms and musical phrasing, as well as social skills.
Fencing with Brooklyn Fencing - Grades 2, 3, 4, 5 - Fencing is a unique sport, rich in history, that offers something for everyone! Students learn basic fundamentals while building confidence, coordination and focus and having FUN! Materials fee of $164 for new students.
French with Language and Laughter Studio - All grades - This program will offer French language instruction, arts, literature, cooperative games and French Theater. All instruction and communication with the children will be done in French; however, the needs of non-French speaking children are assured of being met while learning French through the immersion method.
Fun Fridays with Ms. Betsy - Grades Pre-K, K, 1, 2 - Students will engage in a variety of dramatic play activities within the learning centers to represent fantasy and/or real life experiences while working on social emotional skills.
Jewelry Making with Ms. Hisry - Grades Pre-K, K, 1, 2 - Students will plan, design, and make jewelry using beads and other materials. Will focus on design, color, texture and work on fine motors skills.
LegoManiacs - Grades Pre-K, K, 1 - Students explore the Lego room, working collaboratively and independently to build various structures, utilizing STEM concepts and engaging in imaginative play.
Logic Games with Ms. Raffaele - Grades 3, 4, 5 - Students will work on their logical thinking and reasoning skills through various puzzles and games, including crosswords, Sudoku and much more. Mind bending fun!
Martial Arts with AmeriKick - All grades - Children learn basic karate blocks, punches and kicks in a fun atmosphere. Obstacle courses, high-energy music, skill-based activities and games help to create learning opportunities that meet your child's number one desire – to have FUN! This is a non-contact class in which your child can focus on their own personal advancement. The combination of karate and gymnastics helps to improve coordination, balance and fitness for the body, as well as concentration, self-discipline, and confidence for the mind!
Math Games with Ms. Hisry - Grades Pre-K, K, 1, 2 - Students will play fun games that utilize different math concepts such as numbers, shapes, etc.
Mighty Milers/Sports Club - Grades K, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 - Students will run for Mighty Milers program, learn basic dribbling and shooting skills, and play cooperative games while working on their gross and fine motor skills.
Mini Scientists - Grades K, 1, 2 - Students will learn and use the scientific method while working cooperatively to complete various science experiments. Students will engage in hand on activities as they make predictions, observations and conclusions.
Mixed Media Art - Grades K, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 - Students will be introduced to various art materials. Class will include brief overview of art history and known artists who used mixed media in art making. Students will create original works with various media: cardboard, paint, glue, paper, found objects.
Movimiento en Español with Señorita Miriam - Grades K, 1, 2 - Students will learn action words through movement, as well as arts and crafts.
Music & Movement - Grades Pre-K, K, 1 - Students will learn about different genres of music, music history and incorporate creative movement. This will help students with gross and fine motor skills, social emotional practices and team collaboration.
Musical Theatre with Dancewave - This is a beginning level musical theater class. Students will explore exercises that combine dancing, singing and acting into one seamless performance. Students will learn movement phrases to their favorite musicals and gain confidence in performing!
Piano with Noel Pointer - All grades - Students will receive music instruction, theory, history from a professional piano teacher from Noel Pointer Foundation. Monday’s class will be for beginner and intermediate students while Tuesday will be for students with more experience.
Pop Chorus the Musical with Mr. Ethan - Grades 4, 5 - Pop Chorus will be producing their first MUSICAL PLAY! The chorus will be working on a musical theater production to be performed at the end of March! Musical will be determined based on the number of participants. Reading Cafe Book Club with Ms. Adams - Grades 2, 3 - Bookworms unite! Reading Cafe Book Club participants will decide together what series of books they will read and discuss in a fun and collaborative atmosphere!
Rhythmic Gymnastics with Lido Sports School - All grades - Rhythmic Gymnastics is a sport for girls that combines elements of ballet, yoga, jazz, acrobatics and performance while utilizing apparatus. Apparatus from Lido includes a bag, ribbon and ball. $45 equipment fee for new students.
SABA Soccer - Grades 3, 4, 5 - Lottery for limited spots in a SABA Soccer clinic to last from 1/9/17-3/6/17. Please see attached form.
Soccer with Mr. Nugent - Grades 1 & 2 - Learn the rules and fundamental skills of soccer through drills and scrimmages.
STEM Adventure with NORY - Grades Pre-K, K - Young innovators will use their strengths, as well as develop new skills in this class that explores coding (sequencing, if/then logic, etc.), robotics, science experiments and engineering. Students will get great hands on experience with circuit building, BBots and much more. We encourage children to ask "why" and will never answer "just because".
Tap with Ms. Chzaszcz - Grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 - Students will learn the fundamentals of tap. Tap shoes are required. In Phase II class will be limited to 15 students on a first come, first serve basis.
Team Building Fun with Ms. Boyd - Grades 2, 3, 4, 5 - Participants will engage in fun and friendly activities and games that promote collaborative critical thinking, cooperation and communication.
Wonderful Music Wednesday with Ms. Chzaszcz - Grades K, 1, 2, 3, 4 - Students will explore musical concepts through singing, dancing, and playing song games from the Kodaly method. Students will be given many opportunities for solo singing and playing rhythm instruments. Each class will end with keyboard practice and exploration.
